London Drugs announced Saturday that its stores will begin reopening after a cyberattack forced their closure on Sunday, April 28.

However, the retailer would not immediately specify which stores, including one in Prince George, nor when.

As of Sunday at noon, the Prince George store remained closed.

The company, which is based in Richmond, has about 80 stores in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The store systems are complex and connect with multiple third-party systems that “all have different requirements,” the company said, as reported by Michael John Lo of the Victoria Times-Colonist Saturday.

“We ask for patience as we work with each store to ensure it is operating fully to meet the needs of our customers.”

Security guards were stationed at the Parkwood Place location in Prince George all week. Customers needing prescriptions were allowed in, but the store, like the others, was closed to all other customers.

London Drugs has said throughout the weeklong shutdown that its investigation so far shows no evidence that customer databases were compromised, including for pharmacy patients and its LDExtra members.

“We are grateful for the patience and support of our customers and suppliers as we work to bring all services and systems at our stores back to full operation following this cybersecurity incident,” Clint Mahlman, president and COO of London Drugs, said in the statement.

London Drugs has been working with outside cybersecurity consultants to address the attack, stating the work is complex and requires extensive review of the computer coding that runs the company's software and systems.
